Can smoking damage your own hair? Shocking new findings… 5th October, 2008
We were reading an article in the Sunday Times last weekend, and one of the readers (a certain DW from Luton) posed a very interesting question. They said:
Q. One of my friends is convinced that smokers tend to go bald faster than non-smokers. Is he right?
Well the answer that the doctor Know gave was very interesting: And may well have shocked many people who read it…
Surprising as it sounds, he may well be right.
Smoking can cause more hair loss!
A study published last year of 700 men aged over 40 showed a clear link between smoking and hair loss.
Men who smoked more than 20 cigarettes a day were more than twice as likely to have moderate or severe hair loss compared with those who had never smoked, even when family history was taken into account—although genetics is the biggest single factor.
It could be that chemicals in tobacco smoke are damaging the hair follicles and because smoking is also known to slow down circulation, this would eventually harm the hair roots.
(From Dr Know from Sunday Times Sept 2008)
Although HAIRSENSE will not help you to stop smoking, the natural stimulants in the formulation could make up the lack of circulation caused by smoking. So if you are a smoker and you are suffering from hair loss, HairSense, could be the way forward for you.
